might sound stupid....

Okay I had an ultrasound yesterday and she said my uterine lining was thin, I had a cervical examination last week and have been bleeding ever since. I thought for you to have a period your uterine lining got thicker then sheds. So am I right in assuming I am bleeding from the examination not I'm having a period? I'm on the depo shot and I haven't had a period for 7 months. Sorry if this sounds dumb I'm just trying to fix whatever problem is happening. P.s I am having all these examinations for unexplained extreme bleeding during sex, it's been happening for 5 months.
Also, does this sound plausible, a friend and myself did some research. So if I do have a thin uterine lining, that could mean low estrogen, which could be an explanation as to why I'm bleeding? I'm planning on speaking to my doctor about this estrogen thing as it has been known for the depo to thin the uterine lining.
Thank you for any comments or any help, I'm finally feeling like something is cropping up!
