How long should my daughter be feeding?

My daughter is 6 weeks old and is exclusively breastfed. She will also go up to 4 hours without eating. Even if I try to force her awake. She isn't running any fevers. Doesn't seem to be getting sick. She does have really bad reflux, and is on medication fot it. She only feeds for about 10 at a time, But Sometimes as little as 8 minutes. How long should she be eating for? What is normal and what isn't?

Feedings normally last 20 to 30 minutes. She really needs to be emptying your breasts, at least one, to get the good protein in the hind milk.

My son was finicky at nursing, he would fall asleep so quickly and I could practically shake him and it wouldn't wake him. Tyy to keep her awake and offer the boob every chance you get. Try contacting La Leche League, they offer great support.

Normal is a very wide range for breastfeeding. My daughter would eat 5-10 minutes every 2 or so hours. Once she passed her birth weight, I stopped waking her to feed and she would sleep through the night, waking only once or twice to feed. As long as she's still gaining weight and having plenty of wet and dirty diapers, I wouldn't worry.
