confused!!

So I have been TTC for almost 3 years now. I was diagnosed with PCOS in June 2016. My left tube is blocked. Still waiting on results from dh sperm test. I do not have a period unless I take provera. I take 1000mg metformin ER everyday along with a multivitamin. We are starting clomid within the next month. Dr wants to see if I get a period since my HSG (2/16/17) or if I'm going to have to take my provera. I guess my confusion is what do I do here? I know I take the pill and then take clomid on day 5 but what happens if I don't get my bfp? Does clomid magically make me have a period too? I feel like I got jipped on my explaination from my doctor. He seriously looked through a stack of charts while talking to us. I'm just worried I think. Any advice helps :) tia
