Back pain! OMG

I have had worsening back pain. My dr recommended chiropractic care. I went in for an adjustment and today it's worse. Last night it was bad. All I did after was I vacuumed out the car, it was tedious and painful. Is it supposed to hurt more the day after the first adjustment? Should I keep going? I am in agony and need help. Any suggestions? I don't really want to take pills. I have taken Tylenol with no response. I use biofreeze... it dosent work. Pain patches.... nope. I can't possibly stay in a pool for the next 3 months, that's the only thing that helps.
