Rho(D) Immune Globulin Injection??

Question

Just went to my regular appointment and I got the whooping cough vaccine.... And they also just told me about this vaccination called the Rho(D) that is for mother's whose blood type is RH Negative....   I've never had a vaccine in my life until a minute ago and I'm not sure I want to get that one..... Nobody I've talked to has ever heard of it.... I've looked up on it a bit... And I can't decide.  Is anyone else RH Negative and been told to get this??? What are your thoughts??

It's actually not a vaccine and it's very important. If the baby had Rh+ blood, your body will recognize that as foreign. This pregnancy won't be a problem because you haven't been exposed to the positive blood yet (that happens at birth). But with your next pregnancies, your body will detect any positive blood as something foreign and will attack the baby growing in you.

I personally would have skipped the tdap if you were going to refuse something.

I'm rH negative and will have to get it. You may be lucky in your first pregnancy but rH sensitivity could cause you big issues in subsequent pregnancies. Your blood is possibly incompatible with baby's.

I'm RH negative and was told I'll be given Rhogam at 28 weeks and at the birth. However my SO knows he's O negative and from what I read two negatives can't make a positive. Going to mention it to the doc. If there's a chance your baby could be positive I would get the injection.

Rhogam is actually not a vaccine. If + and - blood mixes (you and your first baby, you and your second baby) it causes the baby's body AND yours to shut down. Just like if someone were to get a blood transfusion and it was the wrong type.

If you say no to this, a lot of hospitals/doctors will refuse to see you because it is so life-threatening to not have it.
