How to I get him to take his prescribed antibiotic????

Question

Tried the syringe, with lots of tongue thrusting, and spitting it out. Tried mixing it with 2 oz of formula. Worked for first ounce, and then was a fail, with all the crying and refusals.

Any hints??

He is breastfed with me, with some bottles of formula at daycare. No solids yet, until six months of age.

In addition to fretting about how to get the medicine down the hatch, I am wondering if these experiences will impact us all when we begin solids in two weeks.😕

Put it slowly in between cheek and gums as far back as you can and then instantly blow in babies face, it makes them swallow!

If he drinks well from a bottle, try putting the syringe in the corner of his mouth while he's drinking from a bottle. When you do little bits at a time he may taste it but it wont affect the taste of the whole bottle. Worth a try!

My boy is almost 6 months and we give any medicine mixed with 1oz of pedialyte in a bottle. We were having such a hard time getting his meds in and Dr. said that was fine. We call it his juice and he loves it!

I dont know how old he is but you could try measuring it out then putting it on a spoon and giving it to him. I don't know why it is, but I know a lot of babies that prefer taking it that way.
