I agree that you have no responsibility or obligation to this guy's relationship with his girl. It's not your job to make sure he doesn't cheat. But personally, you should want better for yourself. You should want a guy that's not going to cheat. But doing it bc of a "connection" tbh sounds like a bs excuse to not take responsibility for flat out cheating.
