tanning lotion?

Has anyone used tanning lotion before? I put some on a a little part of my leg a week ago an it turned out good but I'm afraid to do my whole body... especially my face 😂 should I just go for it? And I was told to use a big makeup brush to apply so it doesn't leave streaks? And tips are appreciated!!!
