breast feeding or formula?

Question

I want opinions on both; I don't know still if I want to breastfeed or do formula. So can you comment your opinions about both.

I breastfed for two reasons... I'm cheap and lazy. I don't want to get out of bed, deal with making and warming a bottle all in the middle of the night, and I certainly don't want to have to pay for something I'm making for free.

I didn't have a choice with my first. I wasn't producing any milk and he was starving. I formula fed, and he's a perfectly healthy 2.5 year old. I plan to try with my next, but I won't be completely discouraged if I can't again. FED is best.

Smell of their poops won me over besides the usual facts. Formula ones smells like something died n could kill an elephant but breastfed is allot better still smells like poop but doesn't knock you over

Pros to breastfeeding: milk is free, helps you bond with baby, helps in recovery post baby and aids in weight loss, your milk tailors itself to exactly what baby needs nutrition wise. No washing bottles if you are able to easily nurse.   Cons: you are tied to your baby or a pump every 2 hours (at least in the early stages). Your significant other isn't able to help with feedings as easily unless you're also pumping regularly.

Pros to formula feeding: anyone can help feed baby a bottle with ease: you, your partner, a family member or daycare provider. No engorgement.  Cons: cost of formula. Also, formula isn't as nutritious as breast milk.

I've breastfed and formula fed and both have their pros and cons. Do what's best for you and your baby!!

Breastfeeding is the best option for your baby if you are able to I would try that first. Some people have trouble producing enough milk so they need to supplement with formula.

As long as your baby is fed, do what works best for you. Breast milk does have a lot of antibodies to boost a baby's immune system. If you're not sure about breastfeeding, you can always pump and bottle feed instead. If that doesn't work with your schedule or doesn't sound like something you want to do, formula is fine too.
