I am getting a procedure done on my kidneys and I'm in the middle of my college semester . I will probably be on bed rest for a while after. I paid for this semester out of pocket. What usually happens what should I do?

Every college has different policies, as does each professor. Talk to them ahead of time and work out a plan.

When I was in school I had an unexpected hospitalization. I went to each professor individually with my doctors note as proof. All but one of professors worked with me to make up my assignments and catch up. The last one said too bad, and gave me a failing grade. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Aside from speaking to your professors, you may want to speak to the Busar about timelines for refunds and they can also direct you to the appropriate office that will put into the system that you are going to be out due to a medical condition which is most likely handled a certain way.

I would talk to your professors. See if you can work it out with them. Otherwise talk to your counselor about taking medical leave and I believe in situations like that you can get money back.

It depends on the college/university, but you should go in to your guidance counsellor's office and ask them what to do and what's best for you. Sometimes you can take the semester off without wasting your money or they can make other accommodations where you can continue to hand in assignments and all that without physically being there. One of my friends did this and she picked up right where she left off when she went back.
