Can doctors refuse to tie/cut your tubes?

I will be turning 24 this August. This is my second baby and I am certain I do not want anymore. Not only has this pregnancy been extremely rough on me I see how much work three kids are and I just don't want any more than two. I want to talk to my doctor about cutting my tubes but being only 24 and with 2 kids I'm worried they're going to give me a hard time saying I'm young blah blah blah and tht I only have two kids. My sister was 24 when she got her tubes tied she was pregnant with her 3rd and they really got at her about it.. I feel tht if it's what I want, they shouldn't refuse me, my body my life. I'm just nervous to talk to my doctor about it.

I am not trying to persuade you one way or the other but I would really seriously look into PTLS. Not everyone gets it but it is possible. I had my tubes tied at 22 after having three. Within the past 10 yrs my period cramps got worse and I would have lightening down my leg every month. They were heavier and with clots. 
I had a tubal reversal this past August, to yes have another baby. But my Dr who did my surgery told me that I ended up with endometriosis from having my tubes tied. Now my periods are normal and have virtually no clots and the lightening is gone. Even my cramps have gotten better. I used to have to take 4 ibuprofen to feel better. Now none.
I tell you this just so you will know what your getting into. Please do some research before you decide completely. Yes you could be one of the lucky and nothing change but I would rather you know going in then going in blind.

No matter your age they are going to give you grief as you say. It is a very serious decision one that they want to be sure the patient is not taking lightly. I doubt it would have anything to do with b only having 2. There is a saying that 2 is the same as 6 which I don't know about that but I do know that I just became a mother of three when I had my last and the baby is the easy one. My 7 and 9 year Olds on the other hand between school work melt downs and breaking up their squabbles make me want to tear my hair out at least once a day lol I think once you decide to have more than one shit gets interesting 😂

I'm pregnant with my 3rd and my tubes will be tied at 26 when I have this baby. My dr said they don't recommend it so young but as long as I was 100% certain then she would not argue.

They can refuse to do it. Most do not. They will talk to you about it for sure. You are young and it is permanent. A lot of women think there is no way they will ever want another baby but a little down the road life changes, ie divorce remarriage kinda thing and then regret it. Not saying that is what always happens or even common. My mom was 24 when she had hers done after 2 kids in 1986. No regrets even with a divorce and remarriage. I suffered infertility and there were several women looking to do IVF at my clinic since they had thier tubes tied/cut and now want another baby. Those are the reasons doctors tend to give younger women harder times just to make you really consider it all. But in the end it's your body, your choice and only you know you. If your doc. Is one to refuse I'd probably look for another one if it's what you for sure want. Good luck!

Im going thru same thing but im 30. This is my 3rd child. Im done. My dr said she will refer me to a "non catholic entity" for the tubal a week or two after delivery. So annoying. I have providence and they are catholic. Whats weird is that if i was having a c section they could do it.

I'm 33, having my 3rd baby via csection next Tuesday and my Dr is going to tie my tubes during my csection. Although if I had used a dr at the neighboring catholic hospital, I would not have this option.

They can refuse you, but I depends upon the dr if they will or not. Regardless they will give you a hard time about it.

I got mines tied on Monday im 24 but i do have  3 boys i honestly didn't want to do it but for medical reasons i did it. my body wont be able to handle another pregnancy it could be life threatening for me and baby . I remember after having my second baby at 22 my ob was actually trying to get me to do it im glad i didn't and had my 3rd and last baby my family is complete

My Dr offered this to me prior to my c section but I'm 37 and it was my 3rd, i refused because we may want a 4th. I think the issue is that some women get the 'I'm SO DONE!' feeling because they're pregnant and exhausted and overwhelmed, but in a couple years that subsides and some regret having had it done.  If your dr knows you and your husband knew you only wanted 2 before this pregnancy he/she is more likely to do it. BTW it was harder for me going from 1 to 2 kids moreso than 2 to 3, people exaggerate how hard it is to have 3 I think,  at least in my experience. Not saying you should have more, but if that's your only reason you mat want to wait a couple years, you can always get the surgery done then.
