A question for parents with teenagers
This is coming from a teenager. I want to really understand something. Why is it, that my mom gets to be mean and make snide comments at me, and I can't even defend myself or it's being disrespectful? I keep quiet most of the time because it gets me in trouble, and then my mother wonders why I never talk to her or tell her things about my personal life. How can we fix this? She's acting like a child when I'm trying to find an approach to this issue. It's frustrating.
Example : She asked if I would clean the bathroom today, which I forgot to and had plans for tomorrow to do so. She stayed up and cleaned the bathroom herself, and when I asked what was wrong, she said, "Thanks for helping me today." Sarcastically obviously. If it was the other way around, I would've gotten smacked on the mouth. Why do they get this privilege to be rude?
