Vitamin D drops👍👎?

Question

My son hates the vit D drops the pediatrician gave us to start with. I'm taking a pre/postnatal vitamin including D. Should I bother stressing out about finding a type he'll tolerate or call it good?

We tried enfamil brand and it was awful. Smelled. Weird color. And the dosage was a lot!!!

I switched to baby d drops from Amazon. And it's literally one drop on a pacifier. Works soooo much better.

I am taking a vitamin D supplement and never gave my child that. I feel breastmilk has everything that's needed in it, so why add extra!! Just my opinion. Plus I live in MS so the sun ☀️ is plentiful!!

We timed it so a bottle immediately followed the vitamin D, that helped.

If you're breastfeeding, you need a high dose vitamin d supplement to get enough to pass on in the milk. Research says 6400mcg. You can get 5000 in an additional pill pretty easily. I take two of those. It had great benefits for mom too

Mine couldn't tolerate the enfamil ones but did fine with the upspring brand ones.

The drops we got were almost flavorless. Maybe try giving your baby a drop of vitamin d then some breastmilk to wash it down with. Vitamin d doesn't transfer through breastmilk, that's why the doctor gave them to you. Even if you're taking prenatals with contaminated d in it, it won't transfer

My son spit his out, so I was taking extra, but the pediatrician said it won't make it to the breast milk. She gave us a sample of some where it just takes a drop and that seems to be working better. I'm sure it matters where you live. We're pretty far north, so it's cold and even on mild days the sunlight just isn't that strong.

I don't freak out if we miss a day, but I do try to do it.

Our doctor never even said anything to us about vitamin d drops. I take a multivitamin and a vitamin D supplement though in addition to taking him on walks, so I don't really worry about it.
