??? DIU Mirena and breastfeeding👶🏻

I have a great doubt my doctor recommend me the DIU Mirena as an anticonceptive method but I breastfeed my baby. I read that is not recommended to women that are breastfeeding. Is this true or its safe for my baby?

I had the mirena inserted at 8 weeks PP, and nursed my son until 16 months old with no issues.

Paraguard is the copper IUD that's hormone-free. This is what I'm planning on using after I deliver. I have always been sensitive to hormonal changes so birth control is difficult to find. I went without birth control after my daughter because my OB at the time and I agreed it would have been rough on me physically. I breastfed her for 14 months. We wanted our second to be closer in age so we weren't concerned about not finding an option then, but two will be enough for now! My friend had this IUD inserted last November and she hasn't had any issues with it so far. She used the mini-pill between her first and second pregnancies. Progesterone-only options like should work for you too if you plan on breastfeeding.

I'm not 100% sure it was caused by the IUD, but my best friend completely lost her milk supply after it was inserted. BUT she had  low supply even before

It was recommended to me bc it has progestin instead of estrogen. Progestin bc are the preferred choice for breastfeeding mothers. Estrogen containing bc have been linked to low milk supply and a shorter duration of breastfeeding. These are the exact ones that were recommended to me because I am breastfeeding. Mini-pill, Depo-Provera (was on it before and I gained too much weight), Mirena, Skyla, Implanon, and Nexplanon.
