am I being stupid?

My hubby has work today, but they work him 7 days a week, rarely gets a day off or if he's only supposed to be there for a little while they make him stay later, 12 hour shifts. 
Anyways, he claims his manager is being an asshole lately, questioning him. So to get a well deserved break and to stick it to the asshole on the busiest day of the week, he wants to call out. Only problem I'm having is that he supports US, so anything that's gonna risk his job is always gonna get a no from me, but I told him I trust you. If you think it'll be okay, stay home. If you think you're gonna be risking your neck, go to work. I support you. 
He gets fussy and says, well of course I can't do it now, you're not supporting me. I can't do anything.

Am I wrong for feeling like he should go in? I hate how much they work him but if he's the only one able to work right now and everything he does it to make sure we're good, why chance it?

I mean why can't you work? I'd be pissy too if I had to work 7 days a week and sometimes 12 hr shifts. Yeah yeah the man should support the family whatever. No, that doesn't mean to bust his butt 24/7 and feel exhausted ALL the time. Cut him a break. He hears it from his boss all the time he doesn't want to hear it from you. Call me rude but I'd do whatever I could to take some load off my husband.

He deserves a day off, but he should ask in advance, not just call in.. so y'all were both kind of wrong as you could've said to call in advance and he shouldn't be trying to "stick it" to the boss.

I think he's trying to tell you he just needs a day break. My husband works 12-16 hour shifts 7 days a week. I NEVER tell him he can't take off no matter what. He works his ass off 24/7. If he wants to take a day off I think he earned it. Missing one day shouldn't jeopardize his job. It would be different if he was constantly calling in or not showing up.

Well he does work 7 days a week. So he deserves a day off, I mean if he's supporting you as well do you think maybe you should find a job to help out?
