When to tell students?

Any teachers out there? I teach 3rd grade and coach high school softball in a small school district, so word will spread! I'm 12w3d and planning on telling coworkers next week before spring break. When should I tell students and softball players? I have some teacher's kids in my class as well as younger siblings of my high schoolers! I'm also friends with community members on FB and planning to announce on FB at 14w. I'd feel more comfortable waiting to tell my students but feel like I won't really have a choice! I already can't pitch batting practice and those girls will start to wonder why I'm taking it easy while coaching. Should I just tell them after spring break (I'll be 15 weeks)? And if word spreads to some, just let them wonder?

I also teach 3rd grade. I was 13 weeks and one day when I told my coteacher, principal and secretary. I told them it wasn't public yet. That was a Friday. That weekend we told our families and anyone that we wanted to be sure heard it from us. Then Monday I told the rest of my team and my students. I figured once we started telling people there was no controlling the wild fire of the news.

One more question! Do I send something out to parents after I tell the kids? A quick email? Include it in a newsletter? I hate being the center of attention so this is all new for me!

I teach 5th and will be 20 weeks this week. My principal and a few teachers know, but it's not public yet. I plan on telling the rest of my coworkers this week or next. I won't tell my students until I have to. It won't affect their school year.

Thanks ladies! I think what I'll do is tell coworkers this week that they can spread the word but keep it quiet with the kids. Then I'll tell them after spring break unless someone squeaks before that! I'll be 15w then. It helps that none of the parents this year will be upset because my maternity leave won't affect this class (due in sept).

I also teach 3rd grade, I told my kids after I told teachers. I had a lot of teachers kids in my class, and I knew the secret couldn't be kept long. I just asked everyone to let me tell the kids. It is a small school. All the teachers let me tell all the kids which made it even more meaningful. My kids even threw me a "surprise" baby shower. It meant a lot to me.

I teach high school and I told my kids at 12 weeks. High schoolers were already spreading rumors (kind of hard to hide when I had to have someone watch my kids while I vomit or pee between each class) . I originally wanted to wait longer, but I couldn't do it. I needed to tell my kids. So I basically told the entire world at the same time. I told my principal at 8 weeks though so I'd have support if I was having a horrible sick day.
