Measuring 4 weeks ahead? 😳

Question

So at my 20 week appointment, my baby was measuring a little over a week ahead, no big deal. Every appointment she has gotten progressively more ahead, now I'm 32 weeks and she is measuring 36 weeks (this is all based on measuring my belly). I have an appointment Monday, and my Dr said if she's still measuring that far ahead by then, she is going to do an ultrasound to see just how big she really is.

Has anyone had a similar experience? What did the ultrasound show? If your baby really was 4 weeks ahead, what did the Dr do about it? Will they change the due date or am I just destined to have an enormous baby? This is my first pregnancy so I'm flying blind here.
UPDATE: Thank you ladies for all your input! I was a little worried because ginormous babies run in my husband's family, and I have VERY narrow hips. I feel much better, now!!

My baby measured 6 weeks ahead from 20 weeks on. Born at 39 weeks and weighed 7lbs 10oz 21in. I thought for sure she was going to be 14lbs. lol don't stress over measuring ahead.

That is such an unreliable way now adays. I measured 3-5w ahead my son was very average 7.2lbs he came st 39w 1d the week wider inwas meassuring at like 40+ something

I'm positive they had my daughters gestational age wrong I knew the date of conception but they went by just the ultrasound since my periods were irregular. I had her at 39 wks and she was 5 lbs!! All the ultrasounds said she was 7lbs + before I had her . Also she had trouble breathing for the 1st hour after birth . I'm convinced she was 37 wks at birth.

I had a similar experience. My first child was measuring 3-4 weeks ahead through the end of my second trimester and first half of my third. They did end up ordering an ultrasound and he was supposedly on the bigger end of the spectrum, but nothing crazy. I remember mention of his head being large too. I ended up having him at 40+1 and he was 7 lbs 12 oz and 22 inches with an almost perfect 50% head. Super tall and lanky!

My belly was measuring 39 weeks when I was 35+3 so she ordered an ultrasound but my son was right on track. Measuring your belly isn't the most accurate thing cause it can change based on the position of the baby

The belly measurements are not very accurate. If you can, try not to worry over them. Chances are you are not growing some monster baby.

If your ob sends you for an ultrasound to check growth, remember that those too are notoriously inaccurate in size prediction.

If you have a short torso it'll make a difference on fundal height measurement.
If you are overweight or obese it'll likely measure bigger.
If you have excess amniotic fluid you'll have a larger fundal height measurement.
If baby is positioned"just so" your final height measurement can be larger.
If your baby is big you can have a larger fundal height measure.
It could be a combination of these...or no reason at all...
No real reason to worry.
If you get a scan done ask for a level 2 or 3 scan for more exact measurements. That way it will be a more accurate measure. They older the machine and inexperienced the tech the higher chance of inaccurate measurement. Up to 30% off.
