do cribs expire

Question

I'm being given a crib that's only been used once or twice but  It it's 4-5 years old is that a problem? I know car seats do I just didn't know if beds do too.

Cribs do not expire, however, in the USA, cribs with the drop down feature for the front part of the crib are now banned from being sold at all stores, online, and in used sells like Craigslist and ksl. Something like it isn't safe. Which was why I bought a new crib for my last baby.

If you have the extra money to purchase a new one, and you feel like the crib you've been given is unsafe, then buy a new one. Otherwise, use the crib. That's what I'd do anyways! 😊

I probably wouldn't use it just because they're always updating safety standards and stuff like that. You can look up the crib model and double check for sure though.

I would think if not recalled and in good condition and installed right it's probably fine? I think drop rails were discontinued in the US because safety concerns in 2011? Not sure of any other big changes in the last few years.

We were given one by my cousin and we are so thankful for it!! They don't expire, and if it's only a few years old, there shouldn't be any safety issues, but you can double check on the manufacturers site.

I use my crib from when i was a baby so its over 30 years old!

My hubby has his daughters crib still but it ten years old... I told him to donate it that we wouldn't be using it. He's not happy with me but for safety concerns I refused to use a used crib. I don't know if the other person cared for it or if it had any recalls. Because it's not in the original package... Just my thoughts on it
