So I'm pregnant at 12 weeks with mine and my husbands first baby. We have tried for 4 years and since we started trying we have always talked about what we want for our kids and have always agreed on everything. Well we do not want to co-sleep. I have no problem with it I just worry too much about one of us hurting our baby so we talked about putting the crib in the room with us for a little while before putting him/her in their nursery. He thinks after two weeks we should be able to move the baby I completely disagree and think we should wait a couple of months or until when I'm comfortable enough to have the baby in the other room. Does anyone have any suggestions on how long we should wait to put our baby in the nursery?

The current sids recommendations is the crib in the same room with you for 6mo to a year from what I understand.... also think about and talk with him about that in the event of an emergency seconds matter.  If baby is in the room with you you can get to him or her so much faster. My daughter has reflux and she spits up in her sleep and almost drowns herself so her being near me I'm able to help her with only seconds of delay. Or what happens if the monitor malfunctioned and you can't hear baby cause baby's in a different room. Just something to think about.

It lowers the risks of SIDs if you roomshare for the first year. I like it because my baby is just a couple of steps away for nighttime feedings and I wake up as soon as he starts to stir so he doesn't have to cry for me. I think that it's easier to get him back to sleep because he doesn't get all worked up.

Some people just get a Pack N Play or bassinet for their room and then transition to the crib, but I put my son in the crib as soon as we got home from the hospital and I loved not having to deal with him adjusting to a new sleeping arrangement. There's enough to worry about, haha.

I will add that some people put baby in the nursery from day one, so this is just what works for my family.

My son is 5 months and still sleeps in a crib next to our bed. I'll move him into his own room at 6 months.

I hope you guys agree on this topic.. me amd my husband have agreed that our lil man will sleep in our room until we are both ready for him to be moved to his own room. This is our first lil one so im gonna be like a annoying mom that wont let go lol. Just sit and show him pros and cons of baby sleeping in room with you my biggest concern is SiDs

Our daughter started out in a bassinet in our room when she was born. She stayed there until about 5 months, then I had surgery and she started being able to sit up so we started cosleeping bc it was easier. I would suggest keeping your baby in your room for at least the first 6 months, up to the first year due to the decreased risk of SIDS when you sleep close to your baby. Good luck!

It's recommended baby sleep in the same room for the first year to reduce SIDS. Honestly, it's way easier to get up when baby just fusses and you hear them than when they're in a full blown cry... takes them longer to go back to sleep. But ultimately I would play it by hear.

6 months to two years is a good timeframe for baby to be in your room. The risk of sids is still there until 2 years old.

2 weeks is a very short time with a newborn.  You will likely still be recovering.... having  baby by your side will the very helpful for at least 6 weeks if not longer not to mention what everyone says about sids.
