plastic surgery in the military?

I'm asking for a friend who's in the Air Force branch. Is a woman allowed to get platic surgery while being in the Air Force ?  She's trying to get an operation called Brazilian Buttlift and afraid that her Military Doctor or Commander will let her

From my understanding, active duty servicemembers must seek approval from their command as elective surgery can effect readiness. 
If you're asking if Tricare covers it, no. They only cover reconstructive surgeries, not cosmetic.

Tell your "friend" that Tri-care or any other Military surgery WILL NOT pay for cosmetic surgery. The only time any plastic surgery would be approved is if theirs actually a medical concern for it. Breast augmentation due to large breast and back pain is covered. Rhinoplasty is covered if you have a deviated septum and it causes breathing issues.  I'm so surprised by the number of Women who actually think Military Insurance covers this crap lol....

I have no idea about the military, but I just googled Brazilian butt lift. I need that. Do you think my insurance will cover it if I say sitting on my bony ass is painful?

Military health care definitely won't pay a dime of it (and may not pay for subsequent complications either), and she'd have to take her own personal leave time for the op and recovery period. Note that she would probably not be able to get any sort of medical "profile" excusing her from physical training, etc. for any part of recovery (no idea how long recovery for something like that is) so she'd have to get enough leave approved to cover that too. It may not be wise, but if she's willing & able to do those things, not miss any duties, and keep it on the down-low, I don't see how the military could actually prevent it. (This is just my opinion as a former Army gal - nothing official about it!)
