How much did it cost you to have your baby at a hospital?

How much is it going to cost you guys have have your baby at the hospital? I just checked and my husbands insurance is an HRA from Kaiser which apparently means that it sucks. He's an executive team lead at Target and this was the only family plan offered to him. I'm getting quotes for upwards of $4,000! And that's if baby is completely healthy! Does anybody else have an HRA from Kaiser? How much did you pay? This is horrific to me. What's the point of insurance?

I wouldn't consider that horrific, regardless you are not paying the entire hospital bill... Yeah I get it, it's a lot of money, but your having a child which is expensive in the long run also. Regardless... I paid about $3,500 total for prenatel care, hospital stay, the birth, and post care. $2,000 for the hospital, $600 for my obgyns prenatel care and delivery fee, $700 for my daughter's hospital care, and then the rest was deductibles for doctors visits afterwards. Without insurance my hospital bill woukd have been $32,000, my daughters $7,200, my prenatel care $4,500 and the delivery $2,500. So... I'll take the $3,500 I paid.

My deductible is 4K and my out of pocket max is 6k. I looked up stats on the charges for my hospital and it was about 17k. So I will be on the hook for 6k and insurance should get the rest.

$500 hospital deductible. Otherwise already fulfilled my deductible so with a normal delivery it shouldn't be much more.

Our family out of pocket max is 6500. So depending on what of that we meet before due date will depend on what I will owe. So far this year we have met 2000 so at mast right now I am looking at 4500.

That seems about right for a lot of insurances. My dad works for the government and I'm still on his insurance and I only have to pay $175. But he has super good insurance.

I'm only paying 500 because of the stay in the hospital. My insurance covers everything else and the actual birth.

We have a low deductible/ low out of pocket plan. Our deductible is only $600 and we've already met that, and our out of pocket max is $3k. I haven't found out exactly how much it's going to be, but at most it'll be about $2,500 more before insurance picks up the rest.

The full cost was about 10k. But I assume that was cus of complications and not an easy delivery. Luckily my husband's job has great insurance and we paid about $1500
