Will weed or alcohol consumed by the male cause birth defects

Question

If the male smokes weed and drinks beer and wine everyday and the female gets pregnant, could the baby have birth defects or anything wrong with him/her because of the males lifestyle? Could the sperm be defective? I know it affects fertility but I'm asking if pregnancy occurs.

Weed will effect sperm count, but that's it. It doesn't cause birth defects. Even if smoked during pregnancy, it won't cause birth defects. But smoke is not good for a fetus. Marijuana actually has MANY health benefits for multiple things.

I've heard weed can lower sperm count, however we've never had that problem personally. My husband does smoke regularly and we got pregnant while I was on birth control and then this time about 3 months of TTC. But if someone is having a problem and there is regular use, that is definitely one thing to consider and discuss with a doctor bc it could be decreasing the sperm count.
