Spacing between first and second child

Hi all. Glad to have found this group. I am 27, married, mommy of a 17 month old girl and 37 weeks pregnant with my second girl ( yay almost there). I have gotten ALOT of negative reactions for having them so close at age. In my country we are told to wait at least 2years but we ended up have a surprise baby and didn't see a reason to terminate it ( we can financially support it and doctor cleared that my body was ready). I have to admit, the negative reactions and judgment has gotten me feeling kinda down. Wondering how many months/years you all have between your kids or what is normal in your country/city.
