weening my son off of a bottle.

My son is nine months old and the dr said he needs to be weened off the bottle by one. How do I go about this? He still feels like he needs a bottle every four hours. He hates table food we try everyday and it's frustrating. If I take the bottle away I will feel like he's starving just because it's so hard to get him to eat baby food/table food. Any suggestions?!?!
