Too soon to take baby on vacation?

So I'm being induced Sunday and LO should be here sometime Monday the 3rd. My husband's birthday is April 30th and I'd like to suprised him with a trip to the beach the following week or 2. LO will only be 5 or 6 weeks old. I don't plan on putting him in the sun at all, the room has a shaded pool we would stick to. But is that still too young for a trip?

Also, if it is okay, anybody have tips on taking babies on vacations? Things to make it easier and safer on us all? Thanks in advance :-)
