My bf says it'll be rude to ask people to use hand sanitizer before holding our baby? Do you think it's rude?

"Hey guys, come in! Just a quick thing: because baba is so shiny and new, could you please wash/sanitise your hands before picking up the squishy one? Thanks so much for understanding!" 
My in laws are smokers too so I don't think it's rude, it's healthy. Once they get a bit older though I don't think it's as necessary because they'll have built up an immune system and a few germs are good for them!

When i got home frm the hospital with my first born i had anyone who visited use hand sanitizer lol i had a huge mega bottle n i didnt even ask them i told them

I would give people to option to wash their hands or do sanitizer. I don't use it personally because everything I touch afterwards is going to get onto my skin and I would have just killed the good bacteria that is my first line defense.  I plan to breastfeed so my baby will have antibodies to fight.. they aren't as fragile as you think. This is my third and I'm not overly protective.. your phone is dirtier than a toilet.. people will use sanitizer and then grab their phones.. kinda pointless when you think about it lol.

People walk in and I say 'here's the sanitizer'. No way I could let strangers touch even one of my babies.

No. I won't ask them to hand sanitizer though I'll ask them to actually wash the dirt off their hands

I pressed yes on mistake and meant to press hell no ! I ask the same.  Even if it is rude  (which it isn't) the health of my baby comes first.  When I have babies I stock up on sanitizer and probably have 10 bottles spread about the house!

Nope! Everyone is going to either wash or sanitize before holding my baby. I think it's pretty standard. Every baby, family or not they have always asked to wash hands.

Its completely normal, as a matter of fact most of my family insist on us in by on their hands before grabbing my babies.
I'm the same way if someone comes over with a new baby I go straight for the Sanitizer, cause I'm holding that baby!! Lol
