How do I keep people from buying us more disposable diapers?
We have been really lucky to have so many generous friends and relatives, and we feel prepared for a newborn now (with three months to go)! It is a great feeling and I am so grateful. The only problem is that my husband and I really wanted to use cloth diapers on our baby, but people keep buying us disposable diapers. We wanted to have some on hand anyway, which we now have plenty of, but the disposables just keep coming! I made sure to put cloth diapers on our registries with some cheaper options on there (like prefolds) but it seems like a lot of folks don't even look at the registry and just bring disposable diapers. We had one baby shower and are going to have another in a month, so I am trying to find a way to gently/kindly encourage people to get us other things from our registry, even if it isn't cloth diapers (like pacifiers, burp cloths, etc.). We are limited on space, so we really can't keep stockpiling diapers! What should we do? How can I try to encourage our friends and relatives to buy things besides disposables? Is there something I can do with all the extra disposables we will inevitably have besides donate them (which I don't mind doing, but seems like a waste)? We have a lot of reasons for wanting to avoid disposables so simply using them instead of cloth diapers would be our last resort...🤷♀️
