I lost weight quickly after 2 pregnancies and didnt breastfeed. I know many women who breastfed and still carry weight around a year or more later, and a few other formula feeders that are back in their bikini within a month. I dont think breastfeeding has as much affect as people think it does. Some women lose the weight quicker than others regardless of whether they breastfeed or not. During breastfeeding you're burning an extra 500 calories a day, but typically you're also eating more to fuel feeding. When women who breastfeed lose weight quickly (especially without any real effort) they automatically blame breastfeeding, which i think is probably inaccurate in most cases. I think "breastfeeding helps shed baby weight" is just used to help encourage women to breastfeed. Sure it burns alot of calories, but it usually comes with an appetite increase to fuel those feedings and your body will store fat for feeding also. So unless you are dieting while breastfeeding, it's not going to give you dramatic weightloss. Many other factors will though.

I lost 30 pounds after I had my son, I breastfed but I don't think that was the reason I lost any weight. I was starving the entire time I was breastfeeding. He was eating so much that I had to eat double what I usually are to keep up. I'm amazed i managed to lose any weight at all.

By 13 days PP I was down 26lbs. By 3 weeks I had lost 30 or so.

I wouldn't exactly say I lost the weight quickly. I lost 13 lbs right after birth and then 20 lbs over the next 8 months. I didn't diet or exercise during that time, I just exclusively breastfed my daughter.
