how many weeks you were before having your first ultrasound?

Hi Ladies!
I will start working soon and my insurance will kick in by the end of June. I will be 17 weeks. Do you think is too late for having my first ultrasound? 
I really can't afford to pay out of pocket. The doctor wants to see me at 6 weeks with no specific reason, just to  make sure the baby is in the uterus. 
What do you ladies raccomends? And how many weeks you were when you had your first ultrasound? ( of course you didn't have any health problem).

My next appointment I'll be 20 weeks and I'm having another ultrasound

I had my first at 6 weeks, my second at 8 weeks, and I will have my third at 10 weeks. I'm considered high risk because I am having multiples though. I went in at 6 weeks because they needed to rule our tubal pregnancy. I had an increased risk for tubal pregnancy because I used fertility drugs to get pregnant. Hoping they will be more spaced out once they rule out any issues with my smaller baby!

11 weeks. I know a lot of women never have an US the whole pregnancy. I think I would at least see the dr before 17 weeks, but an US before then isn't necessary

I didn't have my first ultrasound until I was 18 weeks, that was also when I first found out I was having twins!

I had my first at 11 weeks. Ive had several since then for various reasons; but I have a friend who got the anatomy scan done at 20 weeks and that was her only ultrasound.

Try going to a tech school they're always looking for people to practice on and they have an instructor/Dr that will obviously clarify anything for you. 
Just so you won't stress not seeing the baby early on or hearing a heartbeat
