Question

How long did you go through it? How bad was your pain? Did you go natural or get medicated? Is it better to go natural or to be medicated?

I'm a first time mom & I always ask questions once a week from women that have had children already so I can be prepared! All comments are welcomed!

30 hours 4 hours of pushing then emergency c section & had to be put to sleep because the epidural didn't work for me

Had my first baby 2 months ago, I was in active labor the day before I gave birth. I started having contractions around 5:30-6 am on Friday, 2 cm dialated. Then stayed home with the pain the whole day until around 4:45 am Saturday morning my water broke while I was in bed. So I was in labor for awhile. Gave birth Saturday night at 8:05. I had an epidural. The pain at 2 cm hurt like hell and I wasn't even in full labor yet. By the time I got an epidural I was 5 cm and the pain was unbearable😣 the epidural was wearing off by the time I was pushing. Pushed for over 5 hours. I felt so much pain it pretty much felt like I had her natural.

Soft labored at home for several hours. Left home around 10pm, got to hospital about 1045... water broke around 130am... opted for epidural at 230 (3.5cm dilated) and baby was born at 257am.

Basically while getting the epidural I freaked out because something "was feeling different". When I laid back his heart rate went from 140 to 80.. they called a code... staff all came in...  and was at a 10 and his head was already out. I never even had to push... my body evicted him all on it's own.

Active labor was only 5ish hours and went from a 3.5cm to 10 in 30 minutes. Also - epidural kicked in AFTER he had come out. Needed one stitch so being numb then was nice.

Anesthesiologist joked and said I had wasted his time... and I did the whole thing without mess technically.

Pain is awful but you really do forget all about it afterwards. Good luck to you!!

Technically started having contractions at 2pm on my due date, finally went to the hospital at 3am, and baby girl was born at 10am the day after my due date. I planned to go natural but ended up having the worst back labor and got an epidural. I feel no guilt whatsoever either. That epidural took 110% of my pain away and I had a great birth and recovery.

12 hours.... Only pushed for an hour. The contractions were horrible but after the epidural everything went super smooth .

First baby; was in labor a total of 10hrs, my water had broke on its own at 37+5 and I had an epidural at 6cm. I only pushed for 9mins out of my 10hrs and my 6lb 13oz little girl was born. :)

36 hours of labor...I did about 15 of those without an epidural or pain meds, and I was on pitocin and having major back labor. It was absolutely miserable. I decided to get an epidural because I needed to sleep, because I had a feeling I was going to have quite awhile before the baby decided to come. The epidural was nice, but sadly didn't allow me to fully sleep because they had to wake me every 15 minutes for vitals because I had a strange, super rare thing happen with my first epidural. After 36 hours they noticed my baby was starting to show major distress, and I was stuck at a 9.5cm for almost 6 hours, and was started to swell closed. We decided it was time for a c-section. It was really rough, but I don't know that there is an easy way. I think you jut need to go in with an open mind, and let your body tell you what it needs at the time. You never know how miserable labor is till you're in the thick of it...and if you have back labor it's even worse!!! Good luck!

Labored for 26 hours. Had pirocisf epidural. And 2 hours of pushing. For me labor phase wasn't that bad but after that it was difficult to sit or do anything.

My first I labored for 8 hours and had an emergency c section since babay turned breech during labor. I got a spinal block. Next birth I did a VBAC and labored 31 hours and got an epidural with a push button once I was at a 5. I was in so much pain before the epidural. Next baby I labored for 5 hours and got pitocin and did a VBAC. My labor went very fast I just needed the pitocin since my contractions weren't strong enough. I got an epidural right when I got to the hospital. I also hemorrhaged afterwards and required 4 bags of pitocin and medication. I'm nervous for this time around to see what it is like.
