clomid

So I had a mmc in October. I was taking vitex when I conceived because I had irregular periods and wasn't sure that I was ovulating. Ever since my mmc my periods have been more regular but I wouldn't exactly say that they are regular yet. My gyno told me if after a few months of ttc again if I wasn't ovulating to come back and she will prescribe me clomid. I have my yearly exam in two weeks. My question is if I ask my gyno for clomid could it potentially mess my cycle up or make me not ovulate if I'm already ovulating?
