should I be scared?

I keep seeing post about not posting your child's pictures online, I personally think that's crazy bc my daughter is adorable and I want to show her off. Well my sister just started photography and has been taking lots of pictures of my daughter and posted them on Facebook with her full name as the album name... should I have her take them down? She has many friends on Facebook that I don't know... any help ladies? What could go wrong?

We don't post to social media at all. I think my daughter is the absolute cutest but I figure I can show her off to those who matter in more private ways. For example we have a shared iCloud album that our friends and family can all see. We just don't like too much information out there about my little girl - it's partially about security (anyone who's never met my daughter in person shouldn't be able to pick her out of a crowd) but it's also just about privacy for us.

I would be careful especially if any member of the public can access them. If you want to know what could go wrong, basically paedophiles steal the photos and will photoshop your child into sex scenes and send them around their paedo sex rings. So technically no harm is caused to your child but I definitely wouldn't want photos of my daughter used in that way!! As for the name thing, it's not very safe when they're older as people can easily walk up to them after school etc and pretend that they know you and lead the child off.

I do not put my baby's face on the Internet. I know what child pornographers are capable of and what they look for. It does not matter if your profile is "private" someone can find it. This has nothing to do with paranoia. There is a thing called Internet safety and social media is a playground for child pornographers, due to parents being ignorant to what can happen.

What I've noticed that REALLY pisses me off is that lots of creeps will steal and use your baby's pictures as their own "children". Especially on this app....I don't think I'll be posting any pics on this app anymore. But Facebook I will! My family (especially elderly family) have Facebook and love to see the baby. It sucks but there are crazy people out there who will steal their info 😡

I had a similar issue with Instagram and made my sisters take them down. They were using her full name as a hashtag and they have public accounts. Don't feel bad about asking her to take it down, my sisters gave me a hard time about it, but it's my kid and I can't imagine some weirdos somewhere in the world looking at pics of her and knowing her name. It would be too easy to find out where we live, etc.
