induce or not to induce

Has anyone ever asked their doctor to be induced? If so how long did the doctor wait to induce you! I'm 39 weeks and 4 days and between the pelvic pain and irregular painful contractions I honestly can not go to my due date or past it! I am physically drained! Can someone please help me...what should I do????
