I think schools should move forward with a system based on technology instead of $90 books that get ruined and have to be reprinted every so often anyway to include the latest teaching materials. I never understood textbooks on math. The first time I ever got all A's in math was in algebra ii and the course was online.

They may be outdated but if printed text books are gone then this may leave some students at a disadvantage. This year my son's school started doing this for science classes.. they were given a device but internet is needed in order to log into the program. Two students in my son's class do not have access to the internet at home.. their grades have suffered as a result of this new system. These are 4th graders who can't just go to a library or a Starbucks to do their work. Internet service is a luxury that some families can not afford. If this becomes a thing.. schools better make sure students then have access to the internet at all times somehow or only use programs that do not require internet access.

I'll be happy when I don't have to flip to the front page of a book and see that students named Ben Dover and Anita Pussy apparently had the book before me. There's none of that with online books.

Yes. My grad school books were all online and I felt like I learned so much better. For example, I could type into a search exactly what I'm looking for when doing projects.

They are. Science books especially are usually out of date by the time they make it through editing and printing and make it out onto shelves. And a lot of them are super biased but what isn't? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes, the school my step kids are at started a technology program this year, giving every student a chrome book, a few classes still have books, but for the most parts everything on their chromebook. I think it's a great system. The downside is the students need internet at home to do their homework, which isn't a problem for us, but is for some people in the community.

Yes. It's damaging to young kids'/adults' backs to pack around several heavy textbooks all the time. I think some people have issues reading digital things though, I know my husband gets a headache reading digital books. He buys them anyway though because they're much cheaper than the physical copies in college
