Surprise period

My boyfriend was fingering me and as he got up to get a condom so we could fuck he looked at his fingers and saw blood everywhere. The sheets and everywhere were literally covered in blood, so I threw my clothes on and then ran all the way home as I thought I was gonna die of embarrassment that I started my period in front of him. He seemed to be calm about the whole thing but I havent spoken to him since, what do I do?!
