I have to make a deposit of how much?

So I talked to the ob coordinator at my Dr today and they said I have to make a 300 dollar deposit on my 1st visit next week. That sounds ridiculous. I know before I get lectured babies are expensive and I should make sure I can afford one. I know we can but to be told that I have to give you 300 dollars and only a week's notice just isn't reasonable. If she had called me 2 weeks ago when I made the appointment I could have planned for it but now I have a week. I was planning to find an office closer to home any ways but wanted to go ahead and see the Dr I've been using for my gyno exams in the mean time now I'm looking for an office close to home that will work with me on that.

Edit: this is for cost of delivery. She said total around 2200, 300 due at 1st visit and payments to have it paid by my 24th week. I have insurance and my deductible is 2000 which I've met this year. I guess I never thought that since I gave insurance I was going to have to pay so much out of pocket to have a baby so I never looked into it. I was so baked when she told me all u could say was I didn't have the money that quickly and she said they could reschedule my appointment but it was due on my 1st visit. Also taking to her my copay is doubling which I know isn't right. When u questioned her she said week we're socialists but I've always paid 25 to go to that office.
