politely telling parents/in-laws to get tDAP vaccine?

How did you/would you ask/tell your parents/in-laws to get the tDAP vaccine? I still need to get mine, and so does my husband. But how do we tell our parents that they NEED to get it. I don't want to sound like a know-it-all to our parents, but I want them to make sure they are up to date on the vaccine? Especially my mother in law since she will be watching him when I go back to work

I just said the midwife strongly suggested that all grandparents get the tdap to protect the baby against whooping cough. I put it all on the midwife. Ha. I also reiterated that hubby and I had to get one without question. Nobody was offended and everyone was more than happy to get it. (Even my mil who is very into naturopathic cures and all of that stuff)

I just flat out told them. I sent everybody a text and told them those who planned on being around baby often needed to get the shot or let me know they were up to date in it already otherwise they wouldn't be around baby until he had all his vaccines, I u closed it was nothing personal but I want what's best for my baby

I sent an email that plainly stated my feelings. I said if they plan to be around in the first 6 weeks that everyone needs to get the booster. No booster, no baby.

I just started off by asking if they're up to date on it, I was surprised that my mom already is, and if they say no I ask them to get it and tell them how horrible pertussis is for infants, and that if it wasn't necessary I wouldn't ask. I haven't asked my dad and step mom yet but I did ask my mother in law and she said it's a stupid idea, that she just "didn't take her babies around sick people" which is obviously what everyone does, but someone can pass on pertussis without even having symptoms yet, and sometimes adults just get a very mild cold and they may not tell you they aren't feeling well. So it's not a risk I'm willing to take, if some one doesn't wish to do what I ask of them they'll just have to wait until my daughter is vaccinated to come around.

Start with something less forceful like sending a couple articles online on whopping cough and newborns. Ask and see what they say. If you feel that strongly about it, then be more forceful later if needed. I have 3 kids and personally didn't require any of our family to get the shot.
