Going to Ireland

I want to plan a trip for my birthday in 2018 to go to another country. I'm thinking maybe Ireland. I don't know a whole lot about it right now. I was wondering if anyone on here is from Ireland or has ever been? What parts should I go to? Is it realitivly safe? Are natives of the country acceptable of travelers? What was your favorite part of the country and what did you do while there?
