Any NICU nurses/parents?

My daughter is 35 weeks adjusted. Her ng tube was removed a few days ago. She's been a little under what she should be eating volume wise (1/2 oz under). A NICU doctor wants to maybe put her back on the ng tube. My question is, if she is still gaining weight is the tube really necessary? I feel uncomfortable with having them put it back in and I want to tell them no. Any advice is appreciated.

Checking in to see how your daughter is doing. My daughter was born at 35+2. She's 4 weeks old now and has had an ng tube since she was a week old. I want to get it out so badly, but it seems like she's at a standstill with the volume she takes from the bottle. Hope things turned out great for you and your little one.

i had my LO at 35 weeks, she had the tube in for a majority of her stay but one day she pulled it out and they never put it back in. if she's gaining weight, i don't see why it would be needed again. or if she's eating well, you don't really need it. most of the time, doctors do know best so maybe just ask the nurses some questions. are you there for every feed?

If she's still gaining weight I'd tell them no . The only reason for a feeding tube is if they're too tired to eat or if they aren't gaining weight bc they aren't eating enough. Have they not put her on neosure?
