How to announce baby arrival to long distance grandparents

Our families both live a plane ride away. Our immediate family members are planning to fly out the week after our DD. Since they'll miss the birth of our daughter, i was wondering how I could include them? How have you handled this situation?  Should we hold off on social media posts until they meet her in person? Should we let them know when we go to the hospital? Should we send txt pictures when she arrives?  It's breaking our moms hearts that we live so far away. I want to include them the best we can.
