Self-Care Tips!

Cameron
When I'm in a deep depression, I find it hard to do even the simplest things. I mean, I struggle to get myself to drink a glass of water and eat a few crackers over the course of the day so I don't pass out.
In those cases, I distract myself by listening to NPR and podcasts until the worst is over. But when I'm functional, there are plenty of things I do to keep taking care of my mental health.
Here's a short list. Comment with your own!
- long walks with my dog (if you don't have a dog, see if a local shelter is looking for dog walkers)
- practice mindfulness with apps that guide you through meditation
- buy healthy fruit I enjoy, I'm partial to pears, and eating one when I feel down
- listen to comedy shows on the radio or podcasts or watch a Netflix comedy special
- paint my fingernails (looking better makes me feel better!)
- take a relaxing shower or bath
- write about my emotions in a diary or journal
