What will you prefer your kids to do right after high school?

Hey! So I have seen this discussion on a blog and it seems that  parents have different expectations about their kids depending on their social class. What do you all think?

If your kids already finished, vote what you wanted them to do, not what they are doing. 
A) Poor Family - straight to college
B)Poor Family - straight to workforce
C)Wealthy family - straight to college
D) Wealthy family - straight to workforce

I have three kids. Three different tiny humans. I expect them to pursue the future that's right for them. That may or may not be college. We are upper middle class.

My older brother is a college drop out. He has Tourette's syndrome and ADHD and PTSD. Not an easy life. He's also making incredible money as a self taught computer genius. College is not for everyone and I recognize that.

Know your kids. Support thenfuture that works for them.

People seem to dislike this opinion on here but I want my child to go to college. If they don't want to, that's fine and I won't pressure them. But I would like for that to be their plan.

Whatever makes them happy. I'm their parent. I'm there to support and guide them. Not judge and dictate what they do.

I'd like my kids to learn a trade while they're in high school so they have the option to go straight into the workforce full time or use that skill to work part time while going to college.

Community college for two years, then traditional for two years. I thought I was "too good" for community college, and regret that now. It's the smartest choice out there.

I plan on being wealthy with my job (criminal psychologist in the FBI) and my husband will have an education as well. I will be making over $200k a year and I expect my kids to go to college no matter what bc I'm paying for it

Where is the middle class option? I want my kids to go to vocational school or university. I am putting money in 529 for them and the only way they can get that money is to go to college or vocational school.
   
They can work and go to school if they like, they can choose what school/trade/major they like. Those are the options I am giving.

College is the new high school. I'd prefer my kids choose a trade school and learn a skill but if they choose college I'll support it. I went to college and honestly felt like I was in high school again. Planning on getting a Doctorate when my kids are grown so I can teach University. In the mean time I'm learning skills while raising and homeschooling my children (cooking/baking, sewing, carpentry, photography, gardening, learning guitar and other instruments, etc.). It's sad when I meet other college educated people and they can't buy produce at the store because they don't know how to cook anything. They don't know how to change a tire. Or fix a sink! People need to be able to take care of themselves and their house.

I will encourage my children to do what makes them happy and will give them a good life.

College isn't always necessary. My husband didn't even go to high school and he is very successful. I do realize he is in the minority. My husband hopes one of our children will want to take over his business one day.

If they want to go to college, great. If they don't, great (but they better have a plan for their life).
