exclusively pumping?

Question

Any other twin moms have any experience or thoughts on exclusively pumping? I want my babies to have breast milk but I don't want to spend all day every day with a baby on my boobs! Also I would like my husband and other help to be able to feed the babies.

Agree with previous poster. I am exclusively pumping for my 2 week old twins. It is extremely time consuming. I'm pumping 8-10 times a day and sticking to a strict schedule. I don't think it's easier than breastfeeding though. I pump every 2-3 hrs during the day, 20-25 minutes then I try to do two 4 hour stretches at night so I can rest. But the twins get up when they want. So many times I get done pumping. Wash my things, then babies are up. Feed / change both and put back down. By then, it's almost time to pump again already. But, it works. Just time consuming! But my babes are two weeks old and I already have about 30 6oz bags stored in freezer!
It'll get easier as they get older. The beginning is the toughest! Best wishes

I exclusively pumped with my first born (I plan to do the something with my twins when they are here).   I recommend getting a good quality double pump (I used medela). also a good hands free pumping bra (I was able to still work while pumping).  Even though you don’t have a baby attached you at all times, you have the pump attached you ALL the time in the beginning.  You pump as much as they would latch.    While you are building up your supply you still have to get up in the middle of the night to pump.  The first 3-4 months I was pumping anywhere from 8-12 times a day.  Once my supply was built up I was able to cut way back on the pumping times.  It was helpful for when she started daycare or if someone watched her…. all they had to do was grab a bottle.  I pumped for 12 months but I had a milk supply that lasted to 15 months.
