Baby Isaac born!
This is a little late, but the day I hit 39 weeks, I started contracting at 8am. I was just in to see midwife 2 days before and had baby monitored for a bit due to one foot swelling. I hardly contracted while on monitor and told her I wanted to wait until due date to deliver (Easter Sunday). I called local labor and delivery to get tips on how to slow contractions. The nurse said to take tylenol, drink tons of water and walk around. She said they were probably braxton hicks and if they weren't real contractions, I could talk through them. I was in pain, but I was able to curse somewhat during the contractions and I figured that was talking through them, so I got ready for church with my deacon husband rushing me so we weren't late. Me, my two-year-old and hubby set off for church. My husband does the sound and I sat behind him, timing contractions and showed him when they were 2-3 minutes apart. Luckily when music/singing portion ended about 11am, he got someone to cover for him and one of the elders announced that we were headed to hospital and the church prayed for a healthy delivery. I thought we were headed to hospital, but my husband drove past it. He said we had to go home and get supplies... We got home (8 minutes from hospital), I went to bathroom and noticed blood, so I told him we needed to go to hospital. He wanted to use bathroom first. Of course, while he was using the other bathroom, my water broke in toilet, so I started getting onto him to hurry up. On the way, I told him if I didn't get an epidural, it was on him. Luckily he got ahold of his brother on way to hospital and he was able to meet us and get our son while we rushed into the hospital. When I got to labor and delivery at about 11:45 they had me pee in a cup to make sure water broke and assured me that I'd get an epidural. They had me wait about 10-15 minutes before measuring me. The nurse came in and measured me, seeming shocked, and said that I had no cervix? Apparently that meant that I was fully effaced. They had to rush to get me fluids and antibiotics( I tested positive for Strep Group B), because they said that I would deliver within the hour. I asked if it was too late for the epidural. Of course, it was too late for anything... Luckily my midwife got out of church early and arrived about the same time they realized that I was ready to deliver. The nurse was repeatedly complimenting me for my high pain tolerance and she said that nobody believed that I was in labor due to how calm I was. The midwife came in the room and said I could push when I was ready. It took a couple of pushes and baby Isaac was welcomed into this world at 12:41pm 7lbs. 19.5in. on Palm Sunday. Mission quickly accomplished! The nurses told my husband how badass I was and how lucky he is. Shortly after, I was walking around like nothing just happened. :)
