why is my period always so late??

My period has ALWAYS been out of wack. But it's getting ridiculous! My cycles really shouldn't be 35-40 days long...my friend's cycles are all around 28 days! Why isn't mine? And I know stressing out about it causes it to stay in hiding even more. And it doesn't help that my boyfriend and I had sex last thursday and saturday - and yes, we used a condom, and no, it didn't break. So I'm pretty certain I'm not pregnant, but my period still isn't here yet and I'm so over it. (Today is day 37 of my cycle...) I really would just like some peace of mind.

It's oddly normal. Women can have 15 to 45 day cycles and still be considered normal. Your situation is on the better half of that spectrum 😂 imagine having more than one period a month! You've got things good! Somehow, my sister and I are opposites. I'm in your situation with an average 42-day cycle, and my sister has hers every 23 days.

If it's regularly that late, I wouldn't be concerned about it. If anything, you should be glad you only have to deal with your period every ~40 days! 😂 But if you're really concerned, you should talk to a doctor about it

The length of your cycle is all dependant on how long it takes you to ovulate. The post-ovulatory phase (luteal, I think) is consistently between 12 and 16 days for all women. But the length of time before you ovulate can be anytime after you start your period. And yes, stress can delay ovulation, but nothing after you ovulate. I hope this helps!
