How many weeks pregnant?

Hello everybody!
I am just a little bit confused because this app tells me I am 5 weeks and 4 days pregnant. The What to Exclet app tell me 4 weeks and 4 days...! Pretty different! One tells me my due date is december 23td, the other says December 27th! 
Do you know if this is because there are different ways to calculate this? 
When you say "I am 5 weeks pregnant" for example, do you count the weeks starting at your first day of last period or day of conception?
I think 4 weeks and 4 days is more accurate for me as my last period started March 22nd. 
Also, when you all talk about your HCG levels, do you know them because you are doing blood tests or are there tests you can do at home to know those?

To properly count you would do day 1 as the start date of your last period. The reason apps are all different is honestly not everyone has a perfect cycle. You're dating ultrasound will be the most accurate. I got my HCG test results from two blood tests.

Hmmm... I'm gonna say to take comfort in the knowledge that you'll have your baby in late December. When I went to my first prenatal appointment with my second baby I was measuring a week ahead! At your first prenantal appointment they should give you an ultrasound and will give you an estimated due date based upon the size of your little baby.

Oh! And HCG levels are determined via HCG blood test. They will sometimes monitor HCG levels in early pregnancy to ensure the levels are rising as they should be. My father is an OB/GYN, so I've had access to prenatal care info my whole life 😉

It's tough because we really want to get excited on when to expect our little ones, especially with them arriving around the holidays, but if I can offer any peace of mind- don't hold on to any suggested due date too tightly, you can drive yourself crazy! 
When you get your first ultrasound, go by the measurement of what your doctor tells you, then that's it! It is all tentative, and no book or app can give you the accuracy the u/s will & even then it can change. 
Baby will come when baby is ready, after that you get to call the shots!

I was told to add a week to how far along i would be, due to conception time. So for example if i were to count and it be 5 weeks and 2 days, I would add a week to it. Turning it to 6 weeks and 2 days. It's what all my family has done with their pregnancies and told me to do the same!

Hi everyone! How are you feeling this morning? I am starting to feel a little nausea... and I have no idea what to have for breakfast! Haha..

I just changed the due date because I realized the app is probably calculating the ovulation date based on an average 28 day cycle. My cycles are 25 days average and I ovulated before what the app must be calculating. It makes much more sense and now my two different apps are almost matching (5 weeks 1 day on What to expect and 5 weeks 2 days on this one). I am less confused! But I will be talking about all this with my midwife on Wednesday 😊 not that I am obsessed with this.. but I was just confused by the week difference between both apps!

Ok so it is called Nageles rule. Start with the first day of your last period. Add one year. Subtract three months. Add seven days. That is your due date. You can also probably google Nageles rule calculator.
