Should I Be Worried?

So I'm 19 and I've been on birth control for about 15 days. I was told that after ten days of taking the pill that it would start protecting me if the condom broke or anything like that. Well, last night the condom broke and he didn't realize and he finished inside of me. I'm not assuming I'm pregnant or anything I know I wouldn't find out right now; but should I be worried about it getting me pregnant or is birth control more reliable than I'm led to believe? (My friend told me birth control can't keep you as safe as a condom can and I have a higher chance of getting pregnant if nothing but the pill was our protection rather than a condom.
