Hospital packing

Hey ladies when did you start packing bags? I'm 34 weeks and have been told I need to start doing so but I feel it's still early? Also what are some essential items I should pack? Besides phone charger, chapstick, clothes, pads, underwear, baby stuff, and other obvious items. Anything I should buy in case I rip? Ftm here so I'm a bit freaked out and nervous about the whole labor part and what to do lol.

I've had my bag packed most of the way for a few weeks. I just finished it (except for very last minute items) and put it in my truck this week. I'm 36 weeks. One thing I'd "pack" is a towel for your car. I'd just toss it in the backseat and keep it there. If your water breaks, you'll want a towel to sit on instead of getting your seats all messy!

They gave me dermoplast at the hospital I had to have 2 stitches with my first. Really anything you need they will supply it. Only thing I'm making sure to bring is my boppy pillow and snacks lol

I had mine 90% at 36 weeks the first time and my water broke and I had to rush and get the rest packed (which involved laundry😒). For the second I wanted to be ready by 34 just in case, and I didn't need it until 39+4. Turned out I didn't even need the labor bag since I got to the hospital and kiddo was born before the hubby was able to park and bring the bag up.  I'll be ready by 34 again this time, and I'll probably pack close to what I did last time because you never know how labor is going to go.My doula recommended 2 bags: one for labor which should be easily thrown over dad's shoulder so he can bring it in hands free and support you at the same time and the other which can hang in the car until after birth. The labor bag had: some mumus for me to wear during labor, custom scrubs for the hubby to wear during labor, clear protein shakes and Gatorade for me and beef jerky, Oreos, dehydrated marshmallows and Gatorade for the hubs, $1 bills and a roll of quarters for the vending machines, baby's first outfit, a towel, lavender massage oil, Vit E oil, lube, crocs and socks for the hubby, several pairs of fuzzy grippy socks for me, clary sage, spearmint and lavender essential oils, a copy of the birth coach and the file folder with copies of the birth plan, registration, etc. The after bag had a few outfits for baby, pj gowns that buttoned down the front for me, more fuzzy grippy socks, panties, 2 towels, a few pj pants, underwear, socks and t shirts for the hubs, the going home outfits for all of us, toiletries and a gift from baby to older sibling and one for older sibling to give baby when they visited. The electronics and chargers got put into the labor bag last minute unless we had extra chargers that I could pack ahead. With my 1st labor I used about 90% of what I packed, with the second almost none due to the short labor.

My birth coach suggested it in case the baby was a bit stuck. They usually have it at the hospital but she had a birth where they ran out and if the mom hadn't had it she would have needed an episiotomy

It's not too early. I started at around 34 weeks but it took me a few weeks to finish. I am 37+1 and just now finished packing everything that can be packed in advance (stuff that's not used everyday). I only have one very small duffel with my stuff and baby's stuff so I definitely didn't overpack. I just started and added a bit at a time over the course of a few weeks, which is what I would recommend.

I don't think it's too early to pack. You never know what could happen. I had my bag packed well in advance.
