ttc and mother in law

My brother in law had his 2nd baby girl today. So my mother in law was like "im sad She (my sister in law) got her tubes tied cause the next one could have been a boy" I was like well maybe we will have the boy. And she was like yea someone needs to have the boy. She knows we are trying and having trouble. and I know I'm sensitive but it seemed rude and basically saying we won't have kids. Am I just being sensitive?
