New CC rule-what do you think?

Question

There's a new rule here in CC concerning race topics. So you think this is a good rule (meaning it will help decrease the issue with racism on here) or is it a bad rule (meaning it won't help/will stay the same). Also, do you think people asked for this rule?

I keep saying this over and over, but here goes again:

It's a controversial debate group, we should be able to debate controversial issues. More consistent moderation would solve any issues that brings up.

There's a bajillion period tracking apps out there, but I've never found another forum like CC. Dismantling it in this way is a damn shame.

Why not just tell the racists that if they are racists they are banned from CC?

I think it's just admin not wanting to properly deal with the large amount of racist users on here. For whatever reason, it's continued to be a problem and the racists always end up back in CC. I don't see it solving the problem of racism but 🤷🏽‍♀️

It's actually been a rule since September/October. The post explaining it just got unpinned at some point between then and now, so I wrote it into the main rule post the other day in the hopes that people would follow it. (Foolish, I know.) Anyway, I don't make the rules, I just enforce them - but yes, it was an effort to curtail racism. For some reason racists love posting to CC, but hate doing it in a room specifically devoted to the subject. It works. There's also the fact that a lot of the race topics that get posted don't require much debate, because they're usually of two varieties "racism is bad" to which the answer is "yes" and "is this racist?" to which the answer is 99% of the time "yes." And if your answer is something that reveals what a huge racist you are, then it ends up in a huge fight that gets multiple people banned and/or leaving the app in disgust because we didn't ban people fast enough.

I would like to see the Racists of Glow actually get banned...not the race topics that they troll.

It was created after Black people were subjected to some pretty horrific posts. But like everyone said, it really just exposes how much admins don't want to moderate.

Also, it's frustrating because you could have a topic that is either tangentially related to race or mentions an issue experienced by non-White people and it automatically becomes moved to the race room.  It's actually kinda racist when you think about it. But I'm not in charge.

i think some people were getting out of hand with it. unfortunately it is what it is.

I think its good to take a break from super heated discussions every once in a while, but its not going to fix the underlying. The racists will still be there. They will still cause problems when the rule gets lifted like it did last time. They will still spew hate. Not sure what Glow is trying to accomplish besides lightening their work load with this one.
